About Ricky Banks Photography
I'm a freelance photographer based in London. I've worked as a photographer and web producer for the BBC since 2004, and my work has been used on national websites for Radio 1, Glastonbury, Reading and Leeds, BBC Introducing and more. I'm happy to travel and work anywhere in the UK.
Music
I'm passionate about conveying the raw power and emotion of an artist's performance in my shots, whether it's a tiny intimate pub gig or a massive festival set. I'm energetic, quick on my feet and have an eye for the easily-missed details. I like to build up a rapport with my subjects so that everyone feels comfortable and free to express themselves truly. In my live music gallery, you'll find shots I've taken of Florence and the Machine, Biffy Clyro, The Streets, Noah and the Whale, Marina and the Diamonds and many more.
Weddings
I believe the same principles that guide my music photography can also be applied to shooting weddings. I'm equally inspired by classic reportage photojournalists like Henri Cartier-Bresson as by modern rock photographers like Ami Barwell. I'm currently looking for fun-loving couples who want something a little bit different from the norm when it comes to photos of their wedding day. If you're planning an alternative wedding and you want a hard-working photographer with a rock n' roll approach, I'd love to hear from you.
Dress Shoots
Brides - whether you want to trash the dress or rock the frock, before or after your big day, drop me a line to arrange a shoot. In my fashion gallery, you'll find examples of the shots I've taken to market Lizzie Jayne's 50s style, vintage inspired wedding dresses. If you'd like to discuss a specific requirement, please don't hesitate to contact me.
